School Shepard Award 2026

As a stand-alone Lutheran school, we have the unique blessing of support from two congregations in our Michigan District. The pastors from both St. James Lutheran and Immanuel Lutheran lead our ISJ chapel services, lead classroom devotions, and play an important role in the Christian life of our students.

This past week, one of Immanuel’s pastors, Pastor Thomas Gustafson, was recognized by the Michigan District as the recipient of the School Shepherd Award for 2026. This goes to a pastor in the Michigan district who is passionate about Lutheran schools and gives his time to support not just the teachers and students at ISJ, but the teachers and students in Lutheran schools across our district.

Thank you, Pastor Thomas, for always pointing us to the love of Jesus.Thank you for praying for us, for singing with us, for teaching us, and for shepherding us!
