Science Curriculum

Little Thinkers – Science (Kindergarten)
Students explore animals, nature, and the world around them through hands-on activities and stories that build curiosity and a love of learning.

HMH Science (Grades 1–6)
Inquiry-based lessons and experiments help students explore God’s world while building critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Science learning is intentionally connected to Christian faith.

Science Dimensions (Grades 1–6)
Interactive lessons and investigations engage students in physical, life, and earth sciences while helping them recognize God’s design in creation.

Math

God created a world of order, which is evident when we look at mathematics. ISJ Academy uses the curriculum Purposeful Design for its K-6th grade curriculum.

Purposeful Design Math (Grades K-6) is a Christian-based, mastery-oriented math curriculum that uses a traditional textbook approach with hands-on manipulatives, modeling, and problem-solving. The program aims to build strong math foundations by linking math concepts to a biblical worldview, integrating STEM, and preparing students for future academic levels through conceptual understanding, skill development, and real-world applications.

Reading/Language Arts

Engaging Readers (Grades K–2)
A literature-based program that builds a love of reading while strengthening comprehension through rich picture books and discussion.

UFLI Foundations (Kindergarten–Grade 1)
A research-based phonics program that teaches letter–sound relationships and builds confident, independent readers.

EB Academics (Grades 3–6)
A reading and writing program that develops critical thinking, text analysis, and clear written expression using high-quality literature.

Novel Studies (Grades 5–6)
Students read full-length novels to analyze characters, plot, and themes while practicing discussion and evidence-based thinking.

Social Studies Curriculum

Little Thinkers – Social Studies (Kindergarten)
Students learn about communities, history, and people through age-appropriate lessons that encourage curiosity and connection to the world.

Oakland Schools Social Studies – Atlas Rubicon (Grades 1–2)
Students build foundational skills in geography, civics, history, and culture through carefully aligned, meaningful units.

The Clever Teacher Social Studies (Grades 3–6)
Engaging lessons help students explore history, geography, civics, and culture while developing critical thinking and a Christian perspective on citizenship.
